Amazon Tax Platform Services is responsible for the tax calculation platform, providing the core services that calculate taxes (sales tax and VAT) for all Amazon sales, physical and digital, globally.We are looking for software engineers who thrive on complex problems to operate complex and mission-critical systems under high loads. Our systems manage hundreds of millions of records, and respond to millions of service requests per minute.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop scalable, reliable services within a high-throughput distributed tax calculation platformContribute across the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, coding, code reviews, testing, deployment, and operationsWrite and maintain documentation to support technical clarity across the teamEnsure correctness of tax calculations across Amazon's global sales channelsOperate and monitor mission-critical systems managing hundreds of millions of records under high loadCollaborate with peers and stakeholders across Amazon's business units on new features and platform improvementsMaintain compliance with global tax law requirements by ensuring audit records are stored accurately and securelyBasic Qualifications3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experienceExperience programming with at least one software programming languagePreferred Qualifications3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experienceBachelor's degree in computer science or equivalentThe base salary range for this position is $114,800 – $191,800 CAD annually.
