Hospitalist - Department of Psychiatry - HalifaxFull-timeExpected Hours: Part-time hours (0.8 FTE)Estimated Annual Salary: To Be DeterminedZone: Central ZoneType of Remuneration: Alternative Payment Plan (APP) - SpecialtyIncentive Programs Available: YesThe Department of Psychiatry of Dalhousie University and Mental Health and Addictions, Central Zone, NSHA has an prospect for a family physician or internal medicine specialist to work on the general psychiatric units within the Mental Health Program in Halifax.The Halifax Regional Municipality, made up of several communities (including Halifax), has a reputation for friendliness and boasts a rich diversity of recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities.This is an opportunity in Mental Health Hospitalist Medicine.This is a 0.8 FTE position; however, we welcome applications from individuals interested in working between 0.50 and 1.0 FTE, in addition to those seeking a locum opportunity.The position would involve a unique team approach to inpatient care where Mental Health Hospitalists provide comprehensive, compassionate high-quality care, which involves patients as active participants in their own care.



All aspects of the position would require the physician to work with multi-disciplinary teams in an enthusiastic manner with the capacity for self-direction.The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:Medical degree and current registration or eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova ScotiaPossession of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) designation or equivalent, or eligibility to sit for the CFPC examinationExcellent decision making and problem-solving skillsAbility to maintain clear records of patient evaluations and clinical thought processAbility to build and maintain effective working relationshipsMust be eligible for medical staff privileges with the Nova Scotia Health AuthorityFor information on licensure in Nova Scotia please consult the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia website at www.Cpsns.Ns.Ca .Application instructions:Please send your application with a current cv, cover letter and the names and addresses of three referees to Aleya MacNeil, Physician Resource Manager, Department of Psychiatry, Dalhousie University: [email protected]: Please do not apply through this portal.
