The position will be ideally located in Victoria, Sidney or Burnaby, British Columbia or Markham or Waterloo, Ontario, however, candidates may also be considered from other Stantec office locations. Relocation assistance may be available for the successful candidate.Your Key ResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibilities will be related to performing key tasks to support geochemical and water quality components of projectsPromote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec's Health, Safety, Security and Environment ProgramSupport geochemical and water quality components of projects including environmental assessments, models, and monitoring programsCollaborate with other scientific and engineering professionals within the practice on baseline and impact assessment projects, feasibility studies, groundwater and surface water assessments and contaminant investigations, and rehabilitation projectsProvide advice to engineering teams to support mine/project planning and design and mitigation strategiesLead multi-discipline teams with water related mining projects, including geochemists, water quality specialists, hydrogeologists, and engineersLead complex projects with a high degree of initiative and independence and apply a broad range of knowledgeProvide guidance to clients, project managers and technical staff on mining related water issues.Interpret and analyze data,



providing related technical support for geochemistry and water qualityPerform data analysis and data visualization through the use of technical softwarePrepare technical reports and perform QA/QC of technical documentsConduct and support fieldwork as neededExecution of related proposal development and project task financial and schedule managementYour Capabilities and CredentialsFluent understanding of Canadian and provincial water quality guidelines, legislation, regulations, licensing and permitting particularly relating to mining in British Columbia, and Alberta CanadaAbility and willingness to travel to lead field crews, perform environmental monitoring, or participate in off-site meetings with clients and/or regulatory agenciesFundamental understanding of project-task managementProven ability to analyze field and technical data, demonstrate technical knowledge, and problem solveStrong organizational and communications skills (able to communicate solutions in writing, verbally, and graphically)Strong technical aptitudeTime management skills in balancing immediate and long-term work with varying priorities and deadlinesSolid computer skills are a must including working knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledge of water chemistry and contaminant transport modeling software such as Goldsim, PHREEQC, Minteq, MIN3P, Excel, database software, etc., is preferredExperience preparing environmental assessments/ impact statements and other regulatory applicationsEducation and ExperienceMinimum of a B.Sc. in Geochemistry, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or Earth Sciences/Engineering with a specific focus in the areas of geochemistry, preference may be given to those with advanced degree.Minimum of 10+ years of experience, which must include relevant consulting experience in the mining sector, including mine waste geochemistry assessment, water quality predictions,
