Thompson Construction Group has an opening a Water & Sewer Pipe Layer Helper in their Edmonton area of operations.

Responsibilities:
Assist pipe layer in general duties associated with laying pipe: cleaning and soaping pipe, ensuring alignment, barring in larger diameter pipes, etc.
Monitor connections as they are pushed together paying special attention to rubbers and joints, ensuring adequate connection
Monitor and ensure backfill of installed pipe
Participate in daily safety meetings and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
Report all incidents, near misses, and equipment damage to site supervision
Maintain effective communication with supervisors and crew members
Work collaboratively as part of a construction crew to meet project timelines

Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of experience in the water and sewer industry
Minimum 18 years of age
Reliable transportation to and from site
Ability to work extended hours,



including up to 12 hours per day, Monday to Saturday
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is considered an asset
Ability to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor construction workplace
