Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pharmacists in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the pharmacy. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about healthcare and patient service, with an interest in medication administration and medical terminology.
Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
Provide excellent patient care by answering inquiries, providing information about medications, and addressing patient concerns.
Deliver prescription medications to patients in a protected, timely, and professional manner when required.
Maintain accurate records of medication inventory, including ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
Ensure compliance with all pharmacy regulations, policies, and safety standards.
Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to support patient medication needs.
Utilize medical terminology to assist in interpreting prescriptions and medication orders.
Support the pharmacy team with administrative duties, including filing, data entry, and managing patient records.
Qualifications
Previous Canadian experience as a Pharmacy Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, or in a pharmacy/hospital setting is preferred but not required.
Solid understanding of medical terminology related to pharmaceuticals and patient care.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.
Solid commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required (clean driving record preferred).
Must be available to work flexible schedule, including evenings or weekends as needed.
