The Cultivation Technician at Vision Greens Inc. is responsible for supporting the daily operations of a hydroponic vertical farming facility. This role involves plant care, system maintenance and cleaning, harvesting, and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of working efficiently in a controlled environment agriculture setting.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the seeding, transplanting (by hand and/or transplanter), harvesting of crops grown, etc. in hydroponic vertical systems
Loading and unloading the plants into and/or from the vertical growing systems
Monitor plant health and report any signs of pests, disease, or nutrient deficiencies
Maintain and clean hydroponic systems, including trays, reservoirs, irrigation lines, etc.
Prepare and mix nutrient solutions according to established guidelines
Maintain cleanliness and organization to meet food safety regulations
Record data related to plant growth, yields, and system performance as required
Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures
Wear and properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
as provided by the company, in accordance with company policies and specific work condition requirements
Perform other tasks as required and assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous experience in agriculture, greenhouse work, or hydroponics is an asset
Ability to work in a quick-paced, repetitive environment
Robust attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Willingness to learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Team-oriented with good communication skills
Working Conditions
Indoor, climate controlled vertical farming workplace
Exposure to humidity, water, and artificial lighting systems
Wet floor conditions may be present; adherence to safety protocols and use of appropriate footwear is required
Mandatory use of PPE based on task and environment as assigned by the company
May require weekend or shift work depending on production schedules
