We are seeking a Powertrain Engine OBD Calibration Engineer with 1–3 years of experience to develop and implement On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) calibration solutions for gasoline powertrain systems. The ideal candidate will support diagnostic calibration, validation, and verification activities while ensuring compliance with CARB regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement best-practice OBD calibration solutions for gasoline powertrain systems.
Perform diagnostic verification and validation testing.
Calibrate diagnostic thresholds to meet CARB (California Air Resources Board) regulations.
Support hardware design reviews to ensure robust diagnostic system requirements.
Use standard instrumentation tools for data acquisition, storage, and analysis.
Analyze test data and provide technical recommendations.
Prepare regular project status updates, technical reports, and timing projections.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve calibration and diagnostic issues.
Participate in system validation and verification activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in Powertrain/Engine Calibration or OBD Calibration.
Knowledge of instrumentation, data acquisition, calibration, and diagnostics.
Proficiency in:
INCA
MATLAB
Simulink/Stateflow
Basic understanding of gasoline propulsion system hardware and functionality.
Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
Valuable communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of OBD diagnostics and calibration methodologies.
Familiarity with emission regulations, especially CARB requirements.
Experience with engine testing and data analysis tools.
Travel Requirements
Willingness to travel to hot and high-altitude test locations once or twice per year to US (approximately 2–4 weeks annually) for system validation and verification.
