Under the direction of the Controller, Campus Services, the incumbent supports the Budget and Operations Officer in daily cash reconciliation and bank deposit creation for the campus store. This temporary (2‑month) student position requires 20 hours per week and is scheduled to start August 24, 2026.
Responsibilities
Count and verify cash drawers, validate receipts against POS system data.
Reconcile cash, cheques, debit and credit card receipts with multiple system records.
Investigate and resolve variances, make required adjustments, and close reconciliations.
Ensure all details are properly recorded and submit appropriate files to the College’s Financial Services department for import into Workday.
Prepare bank deposits and set up cash bags for each business unit.
Review and enter contracts through the Bonfire system.
Reconcile and analyze sales records; support Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable at Retail Services.
Transfer financial batches related to cash handling to the Financial Services department for import into Workday.
Qualifications
Current student in a business or accounting program.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and cash handling procedures.
Robust attention to detail and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Must be a registered international student at Algonquin College and have completed at least one semester of study prior to applying.
Eligible for the International Student Employment Fund (ISEF) or other campus co‑op funding.
Working Conditions
On‑site work required at Woodroffe Campus.
Part‑time, 20 hours per week during the 2‑month contract.
Cash‑handling and use of POS system; use of College’s internal systems (Workday, Bonfire).
