About the job: Bilingual z/OS Systems Programmer

Contract Position – 12 months renewable to start, with possibility of extensions or conversion to permanent.

Rate: $100-$120/hr, C2C based on experience.

Language Requirements: English & French.

Location: Remote, Canada.

Job Role & Responsibilities

The z/OS Systems Programmer will provide services in a complex, multi‑vendor, multi‑protocol setting, acting as the primary point of contact for z/OS operating system questions and support.
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot z/OS and related ISV software.
Perform problem determination and resolution, including on‑call support and participation in disaster recovery tests.
Customize and test ISV software, including writing and managing user exits and system modifications.
Analyze and implement solutions for performance, configuration, and operational issues.
Lead technical guidance to professional work teams and manage special projects.

Technical Skills & Experience
Proficient with SMP/E, ACF2, IO Gen, TSO/ISPF, JES2/3, and HCD.
Experience with DFIMS: DFDSS, IDCAMS, IEBGENER; extensive DFSMS knowledge.




Solid understanding of z/OS installation, reworking, and user modifications.
Knowledge of sysplex concepts, CPU keys management, and product deployment.
Experience working with IBM and other vendors for PD and product inquiries.
Experience supporting multiple accounts, 120+ ISVs and 130 LPARs.
Experience with eESM or exposure to problem & change management.

Other Skills
Strong verbal and written communication in French and English.
Adaptation to standard client change‑management process.
Ability to work in a virtual team and collaborate across locations.
Willingness to work weekends and outside normal business hours in a quick‑paced, stressful environment.

Required Qualifications
Bilingual in English and French.
3+ years of z/OS systems programming experience.
Proficiency in assembler language.
Experience with mainframe utilities and ISV installations.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and leadership skills.
