Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Wills and Estates Lawyer role based in Calgary, AB. The Wills and Estates Lawyer will advise clients on estate planning strategies, including drafting and reviewing Wills, Personal Directives, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Estate Administration and Probate. The firm is seeking lawyers who will have a focus on Estate Litigation.
Day-to-day responsibilities include meeting with clients, assessing their circumstances and goals, preparing legal documents, and ensuring compliance with relevant provincial laws and regulations. The role also involves collaborating with team members, managing files and timelines, and maintaining accurate records and documentation.
The Wills and Estates Lawyer will support client education, participate in firm initiatives, and contribute to a professional, respectful, and inclusive work setting.
Qualifications
Licensed to practice law in Alberta, with good standing at the applicable law society.
Demonstrated experience in estate planning, Wills, trusts, and related personal planning documents.
Strong client advisory skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts in clear, accessible language.
Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and research abilities, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to respectful and inclusive client service.
Ability to manage multiple files, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a structured, on-site workplace.
Comfort working with standard office and legal practice management software; willingness to learn recent tools.
Prior experience in a private practice or boutique firm focused on estates or family-related matters is an asset.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical and skilled standards.
