Casual Library Technician staff work on an on call basis, filling in for school Library Technician staff on a short term or long term basis as required.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECTDevelop, organize and maintain a collection of diverse library materialsLocate resource information for students, teachers and parentsDeliver library services such as adding copies, bar coding, spine labeling, stamping, jacketing, reinforcing, circulation, shelving, filing, repairing, weeding, tracking inter-library loan transactions, maintaining periodicals, prepare displays, maintain inventory, set up and demonstrate proper use of equipmentDemonstrate proper use of resourcesSupport teachers' instructional programsParticipate in Board initiated professional development and organizational meetingsWHAT YOU BRINGLibrary Technician Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalentThree months experience with the Dewey Decimal Classification System, and cataloguing procedures according to AACR2 and SEARS Subject Headings, MARC records, standard library cataloging basicsComputer and audio-visual equipment knowledge and experienceGood interpersonal and artistic skills to promote libraryKnowledge of the current automation systemAbility to work under minimal supervision, to organize time efficiently, and to work well with a variety of peopleLOCATIONS:



Must be able to travel to all locations within the Niagara Catholic District School Board jurisdiction.HOURS: Varies as needed on a casual on call basis.
