Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre has an exciting chance for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Day Surgery team. Ponoka Hospital currently provides endoscopy and obstetrical services and is expanding its surgical program to include cataract surgery, creating an excellent opportunity to develop skills in a growing perioperative environment. In this role, you will support all aspects of the day surgery patient experience, including preoperative preparation, patient education, procedural support, recovery care, and discharge planning. As a member of the perioperative team, you will work collaboratively with surgeons, physicians, anesthesiologists, nurses, and allied health professionals to provide safe, productive, patient-centered care. The successful candidate may also provide support to the inpatient unit and Emergency Department during periods of increased workload or temporary Operating Room closures. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

As required.

2 years previous day surgery experience.
