Forty-five minutes outside of Grande Prairie lies the rural town of Spirit River. The town offers many advantages of living in a quieter area serving many farming and industry services. At the same time, it is only 45 minutes away from Grande Prairie with a variety of outdoor and indoor recreation opportunities and a multitude of dining and shopping prospects. With the recent Grande Prairie Regional Hospital opening, there is a variety of career options and specialization available for the career minded individual. The Recreation Therapy Aide assists with the promotion of a comprehensive service for clients developing and implementing evidence based, client-centered practice based on therapeutic recreation standards of practice. This is a agile program with a high degree of independence. The successful candidate needs to demonstrate a track record of creativity, initiative, being a self starter and self motivated. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Therapy Aide, you will be working both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team where you will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. Your role may include administrative duties such as ordering supplies, booking clients, tracking attendances, equipment inventory and preparing/cleaning the treatment area. Under the direction of a supervising recreation therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, audiologist, or speech language pathologist, you will prepare and/or apply routine interventions, promote patient (client, resident) healthy living, self-care independence and motivate clients to actively participate in assigned therapy protocols or programs.
