Role Overview
The Project Director, Growth Projects is accountable for leading the delivery of a portfolio of capital projects and feasibility studies valued between $750M to $1B, and consisting of up to 10 separate projects, in support of Teck, Trail Operations Ltd. growth. This portfolio will be executed as a multi-year program (2027–2032) and represents a critical investment in advancing next-generation processing capabilities within one of the world’s most complex integrated metallurgical facilities.

Reporting functionally to the Manager, Asset Management, the Project Director is a key member of the Owner’s team, with accountability to a Project Steering Committee comprised of Trail Operations Senior Managers and the General Manager. The role ensures strong alignment between project execution, operational priorities, and strategic objectives. This is a site-based leadership role requiring close integration with ongoing operations and hands‑on engagement through all phases of project development and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and corporate requirements

Provide senior leadership for the Growth portfolio across its full lifecycle (2027–2032)

Act as a core member of the Owner’s team, ensuring projects are aligned with site and corporate strategy

Lead the planning and execution of a phased portfolio of capital projects and studies

Deliver projects across all phases including PFS/FS, detailed design, execution,



commissioning, and handover

Ensure delivery against safety, scope, cost, schedule, quality, and value objectives within a structured governance framework

Lead brownfield construction and execution strategies within an active metallurgical processing environment

Manage complex tie‑ins, shutdowns, and operational interfaces, minimizing disruption to production

Direct EPC/EPCM contractors, consultants, and suppliers across the portfolio

Ensure seamless integration between project delivery and site operations, including operational readiness, commissioning, and handover planning

Build strong relationships with Trail Operations leadership, corporate teams, and external partners while communicating project priorities, risks, and performance

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience

15+ years’ experience in capital project delivery within mining or heavy industrial environments

Demonstrated leadership and construction of large-scale capital portfolios ($500M–$1B+)

Extensive brownfield execution experience in active operating facilities

Strong background in smelters, refineries, mills, or complex metallurgical processing operations

Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and consultants to deliver complex projects

Solid understanding of project governance, stage‑gate processes, and capital project delivery frameworks

Experience with commercial and contractual management for major capital projects

Pay Range: CAD $164,000 - $202,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
