Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) / Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) applies the nursing process to support clients/residents/patients in achieving and maintaining their optimum level of health within a people‑centered approach in acute, transitional, personal care home, primary health care, public health‑healthy living and/or home care.

The RN/RPN works to the full scope of practice, engages in ongoing education, and maintains competency in accordance with Southern Health‑Santé Sud policies, Professional Standards of Practice, the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba, the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba, the Code of Ethics, and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

Qualifications and Skills

Knowledge of Professional Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.

Ability to foster a cooperative interdisciplinary environment supporting quality services, improvement and staff empowerment.

Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.

Conflict resolution skills.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Analytical and inquisitive problem‑solving approach contributing to program improvement.

Autonomous decision‑making and leadership.

Robust organizational skills and flexibility.

Ability to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the role.

Ongoing professional growth and competency relevant to practice area.

Proficiency in cultural diversity and respect for diverse populations.

Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) for bilingual roles.





Respect for confidentiality in paper, electronic and other formats.

Good work and attendance record.

Certification, Licensure and Registration

Current active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba / College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba.

Scope of practice as defined by the Regulated Health Professions Act.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (across relevant areas).

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Current Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) certification.

Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC) certification.

Valid Class 5 driver’s license, all‑purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.

Physical Requirements

Fit to meet physical and mental demands of the job.

No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.

May work evenings and weekends as necessary.

May travel to regional facilities as required.
