Job Overview
This four‑month co‑op placement will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, managers and others in different departments within BCRTC. The position will assist Engineering with projects related to maintaining and operating BCRTC rolling stock and rail assets. Responsibilities include researching mechanical or electrical issues on rolling stock and wayside elements, developing design standards, process improvements and ensuring compliance.

Research and develop design standards and process improvements and ensure compliance.
Requirements and Qualifications
Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, etc.) student – third or fourth year preferred.
Currently enrolled in a recognized post‑secondary engineering program at a BC university.
Strong academic background in engineering.
Experience with AutoCAD and competence in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Valid BC class 5 driver’s license preferred.
Previous co‑op or industrial experience a strong asset.
Safety‑first attitude.
Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
Proven interpersonal and leadership skills.
Positive, self‑motivated,
strong organisational and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in computer systems and software.
Demonstration of excellent grades.
Desire to progress, learn, grow and succeed.
Commitment
This is a four‑month co‑op placement with the potential for an additional four‑month extension, subject to operational requirements and funding availability.
Work Schedule & Designation
Work Designation: Resident – primarily on‑site. Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Rate of Pay
Salary ranges from $65,600 to $98,400 per annum, based on education, experience, skills and qualifications.
