We are seeking an Adult Learning & Upgrading Pathway Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Programs and working closely with the Project Manager Career Pathways, schools, community leaders, and external partners, this position supports the development and delivery of adult learning opportunities for Innu learners.
The Adult Learning & Upgrading Pathway Coordinator works directly with adult learners who are returning to education, upgrading academic standing, or pursuing pathways to post secondary education, training, and employment. The role also contributes to the long term development of a community based adult upgrading program that reflects MTIE's vision for lifelong learning and educational success.
This position combines learner support, program coordination, partnership development, and strategic planning to help create flexible, culturally grounded learning opportunities that meet the needs of adult learners in Natuashish and Sheshatshiu.
This position is based in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL, with regular travel to MTIE communities.
Key Responsibilities
Support adult learners in returning to education, upgrading academic standing, and achieving their educational and career goals
Provide guidance on pathways to graduation, post secondary education, training, and employment
Build supportive relationships with learners by identifying barriers and connecting them with appropriate resources
Coordinate adult learning and upgrading programs, including scheduling, learner supports, and program logistics
Collaborate with instructors, Community Directors, schools, and external partners to support learner success
Contribute to the development of MTIE's long term adult learning and upgrading strategy
Research and implement best practices in adult education, learner engagement, and versatile program delivery
Monitor learner participation and program outcomes, supporting continuous improvement through data informed decision making
Promote culturally responsive programming that reflects Innu language, culture, and community priorities
Experience
Demonstrated experience in adult education, upgrading programs, or academic re‑engagement support
Proven ability to work directly with learners facing barriers to education, including assessment, planning, and ongoing support
Strong program coordination skills: scheduling, stakeholder collaboration, and outcome tracking
Ability to independently bridge immediate learner needs with longer‑term program development
Experience working within Indigenous communities or Indigenous education systems is considered an asset
