Platform Engineer – Atlassian Ecosystem BCI’s Technology team is looking for a Platform Engineer to own and grow our Atlassian ecosystem, comprising Jira and Confluence. The role centers on configuring, maintaining, and continuously improving a platform that supports our technologists across the organization. The Platform Engineer will work closely with delivery teams, stakeholders, and business partners to enhance platform capabilities, drive automation, and ensure a high‑quality user experience.
Responsibilities Lead the technical delivery and continuous improvement of the Atlassian platform on a regular sprint cadence as part of an Agile delivery team.
Collaborate with development teams, team leads and managers to establish and improve Atlassian practices for managing work and knowledge.
Define technical requirements for Atlassian platform capabilities, serve as technical SME, and develop maturity roadmaps that align with business objectives and technical needs.
Design, configure, and maintain platform capabilities and supporting technologies and services based on best practices.
Develop and deliver technical documentation and communications, ensuring compliance with internal technology governance standards.
Implement and enforce platform standards, guidelines, and best‑practice expectations for technical teams.
Contribute to procurement processes, evaluate RFPs, and provide operational oversight for external resources.
Identify risks, propose solutions, and provide advanced platform administration, troubleshooting, and remediation support.
Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering knowledge sharing through internal technical communities.
Apply Agile methods to improve delivery performance through reporting, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Drive AI‑assisted workflows across the Atlassian platform,



leveraging agentic tools to accelerate configuration and automation.
Undertake special projects or assignments as required.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Up to 5+ years of experience as a Platform Administrator, Platform Engineer, Developer or Software Engineer focusing on Atlassian platform configuration and operations.
Experience configuring both on‑premise and cloud‑based Atlassian environments.
Proficiency with Agile (Lean, Kanban, or Scrum) and DevOps practices.
Solid experience managing Atlassian administration, platform security, and access governance.
Foundational knowledge of scripting/automation languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and related technologies such as Atlassian REST API, SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, etc.
Experience managing the Atlassian Marketplace app lifecycle, including app evaluation and license optimization.
Excellent customer‑service, listening, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Experience using AI assistants and/or agentic tools for configuration, troubleshooting, and automation is an asset.
Exposure to the investment management industry is an asset.
Key Domain Areas DevOps – Agile planning, software development lifecycle, and Atlassian suite certifications.
Service Management – Experience with Active Directory, SCCM, CMDB; ITIL or ServiceNow certification is an asset.
Location The role can be based in either Victoria or Vancouver. Relocation support within Canada is available if needed. In‑person collaboration is required, with the flexibility to work remotely one day per week.
Salary and Benefits The annualized salary range is CAD$106,000 to $128,000. BCI offers a competitive total rewards package that includes a performance‑based incentive plan, comprehensive health and dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off.
