About the role Block is looking for a Legal Systems Engineer to architect and manage the technology stack supporting our global legal operations. You will build and deploy AI-driven solutions while integrating complex platforms to improve automation and data workflows. This role requires a technical lead who can balance innovation with risk management to scale our legal infrastructure.
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Engagement: Full-time Salary: $125,900 - $188,900 CAD (Zone A and Zone B) Team: Counsel
What you'll do Design and maintain a scalable, cohesive architecture for all legal systems.
Identify and execute projects that use automation and AI to optimize legal workflows.
Lead the implementation of AI solutions using tools like Claude, Harvey, and internal LLM platforms.
Create production-ready patterns and guardrails for safe AI adoption within the legal team.
Manage integrations between DocuSign CLM, Brightflag, Tonkean, and AODocs.
Develop APIs, data pipelines, and automated processes to minimize manual tasks.
Use Databricks and Snowflake to support data analytics and AI-driven operations.
Provide technical oversight for eDiscovery and Information Governance processes.
Requirements 7 to 10+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering,
or architecture.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or JavaScript.
Experience building integrations for SaaS platforms via APIs.
Practical experience with AI tools including Claude, Codex, or Copilot.
Deep knowledge of ELM and eBilling, with a preference for Brightflag expertise.
Strong background in eDiscovery and the EDRM lifecycle.
Understanding of core legal workflows like billing, contracts, and discovery.
Ability to work independently in complex, ambiguous environments.
