What you'll do Oversee the entire payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee compensation, including salaries, bonuses, and deductions.
Maintain and update payroll records, ensuring that all employee information is current and compliant with legal requirements.
Collaborate with HR to verify employee data, including current hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.
Process and manage payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing clear and concise information regarding pay, deductions, and benefits.
Prepare and submit payroll reports to management, highlighting key metrics and any discrepancies that may arise.
Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholdings and reporting requirements.
Assist in the annual audit process by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries from auditors.
Support the implementation of payroll software and systems,
ensuring that they meet the needs of the organization and improve efficiency.
Monitor and analyze payroll data to identify trends and areas for improvement in payroll processes.
Participate in training sessions for staff on payroll-related topics, ensuring that all employees understand the payroll system and their responsibilities.
Stay updated on industry best practices and changes in payroll legislation to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive.
Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to reconcile payroll accounts and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Requirements A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll administration or a related field, preferably in a corporate environment.
Robust understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements in Canada.
Proficiency in payroll software and systems; experience with [specific software used by Bgcengineering] is an asset.
Excellent numerical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy in processing payroll.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with employees and management.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
A degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
Nice to have Certification in payroll administration or a related qualified designation.
Experience in the engineering or construction industry, providing insight into specific payroll challenges.
Familiarity with benefits administration and employee compensation structures.
Knowledge of HR practices and regulations to support cross-departmental collaboration.
