About the role We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Notification Platform team. This position is crucial for improving communication and personalization within our marketplace by leveraging sophisticated systems and governance. Your primary responsibility will be to establish a dependable notification ecosystem that integrates multiple channels, such as push notifications, email, and SMS.

What you'll do Guide and nurture a high-performing engineering team focused on the delivery and management of notification services.
Develop and implement the technical vision and roadmap for the Notification Platform, ensuring it aligns with the overarching goals of Growth Engineering.
Spearhead enhancements to the Pedregal platform, emphasizing centralized functionalities like deduplication and comprehensive ranking systems.
Work in close partnership with Product, Operations, and Data Science teams to apply machine learning techniques that optimize send times, frequency, and channel effectiveness, while also improving Generative AI content across various platforms.
Design real-time, data-driven systems that guarantee transactional reliability and foster growth and cost-effectiveness across diverse markets.
Broaden the platform's international presence by creating shared, configurable infrastructure for partners such as Wolt and Deliveroo.
Foster a culture of ownership and experimentation within the team, upholding high standards for system reliability and operational excellence.




Monitor industry trends and technological advancements to continuously improve the Notification Platform and its capabilities.
Mentor team members, providing guidance on best practices and encouraging qualified growth.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate on system features and functionalities.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices in notification delivery.
Report on team performance and project status to upper management, ensuring transparency and alignment with business goals.
Requirements A Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in the technology sector.
Minimum of 2 years in an engineering management role, leading teams of 5 or more engineers.
Proven track record in building and scaling backend, platform, or distributed systems.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially when working with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with AI and machine learning applications, particularly in personalization and ranking, is a plus.
Experience with notification systems and platform governance is highly desirable.
Nice to have Knowledge of cloud computing platforms and services.
Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
Familiarity with data analytics tools and techniques.




Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced environment.
Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and design.
Skills & tools Expertise in backend development and system architecture.
Proficient in machine learning applications and Generative AI technologies.
Strong analytical skills for making data-driven decisions.
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
Experience with database management systems and data storage solutions.
Practical notes The salary for this role ranges from $185,000 to $231,500 CAD, influenced by factors such as experience, skills, and location. Along with the base salary, this position offers opportunities for equity grants.
