What you’ll do Develop and maintain trusting relationships with teams across the organization, acting as a reliable and approachable advisor on issues related to engagement, performance, development, and organizational challenges.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and guidance to managers and employees to help them unlock their potential, improve team dynamics, and address workplace challenges effectively.
Collaborate closely with teams to identify underlying issues affecting performance or engagement, utilizing data and feedback to develop targeted, data-driven solutions.
Support managers in conducting performance discussions, providing guidance on feedback delivery, goal setting, and performance improvement plans.
Assist managers with compensation decisions, ensuring consistency and fairness while aligning with company policies and objectives.
Help implement and support company-wide initiatives such as compensation reviews, engagement surveys, and policy updates, ensuring these initiatives are executed thoughtfully and with clear communication.
Actively participate in recruitment efforts by leveraging your understanding of the organization's needs and culture to attract, evaluate, and onboard suitable candidates.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date employee data in Bamboo, ensuring that role changes, reporting structures,
and other personnel updates are properly recorded and reflected in the system.
Serve as a conduit for feedback from teams, sharing insights with the People & Culture department to inform ongoing initiatives and improve employee experience.
Support onboarding and integration of current employees, ensuring they understand company values, policies, and resources available to them.
Contribute to the development and refinement of HR policies and practices that support a positive workplace culture aligned with AbCellera's mission and values.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging open communication, feedback, and professional growth among team members.
Participate in special projects related to organizational development, diversity and inclusion, or other strategic initiatives as needed.
Act as a resource for managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring compliance and consistency across the organization.
Requirements Proven coaching abilities, with a talent for asking insightful questions that facilitate problem-solving and decision-making.
Strong analytical skills, with experience in addressing complex organizational issues and developing effective, practical solutions.
Extensive experience working directly with teams and individuals, such as in coaching, organizational development, or human resources, with a minimum of 5 years for those newer to the People Partner role and 8-10 years for more seasoned professionals.
Ability to connect authentically with scientific personnel and concepts; a bachelor's degree in biology or a related field is preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and resilience, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, demonstrating tact, clarity, and professionalism when engaging with diverse audiences.
A genuine interest in drug development and a desire to understand the science and teams at AbCellera deeply.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and organizational development principles.
Experience with HR systems and tools, particularly Bamboo, is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
Nice to have Experience working in a clinical, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical setting.
Familiarity with additional HR software and tools beyond Bamboo.
Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and best practices.
Experience supporting organizational change or transformation projects.
Background in talent acquisition or onboarding processes.
Skills & tools Proficiency in HR management systems, especially Bamboo.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and facilitation skills.
Effective communicator with the ability to influence and build trust.
Ability to interpret data and feedback to inform HR strategies and initiatives.
Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Practical notes The salary range for the People Partner position is CAD $80,000 - $100,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
For the Senior People Partner role, the salary range is CAD $97,600 - $122,000 annually.
