Subcontract Manager at Geospectrum. About the role As a Subcontract Manager at Geospectrum, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing subcontracting activities within the organization. What you'll do Develop, negotiate, and manage subcontract agreements to ensure compliance with company policies and project specifications.
Collaborate with project managers to identify subcontracting needs and develop strategies for sourcing qualified subcontractors.
Monitor subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints.
Conduct regular reviews and audits of subcontractor work to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry regulations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, addressing any issues or concerns that may arise during the project lifecycle.
Facilitate communication between subcontractors and internal teams to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
Prepare and present reports on subcontractor performance and project status to senior management.
Identify opportunities for process improvements within the subcontracting framework to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Maintain accurate records of subcontractor agreements, performance evaluations, and compliance documentation.
Assist in the development and implementation of subcontracting policies and procedures to streamline operations.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to subcontract management and procurement.
Participate in training and development initiatives to enhance your skills and knowledge in subcontract management.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in subcontract management or procurement, preferably within the engineering or construction sectors.
Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of successfully managing subcontract agreements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Solid understanding of contract law and compliance requirements relevant to subcontracting.
Proficiency in project management software and tools,
with a strong aptitude for data analysis and reporting.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
Familiarity with risk management practices and the ability to identify and mitigate potential issues.
Nice to have Certification in Project Management (PMP or equivalent) is an asset.
Experience in the marine or defense sectors is a plus.
Knowledge of Canadian procurement regulations and standards.
Proficiency in additional languages can be beneficial for international subcontracting.
Skills & tools Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
Familiarity with contract management systems and procurement platforms.
Excellent analytical skills for evaluating subcontractor performance and compliance.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Practical notes This position is based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and may require occasional travel to subcontractor sites or project locations. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively within a team-oriented setting while also demonstrating the ability to work independently.
