Senior Compliance Director - Payments & Digital Assets at Ott. About the role Ott is seeking a highly experienced Senior Compliance Director to oversee our compliance strategies in the rapidly evolving landscape of payments and digital assets. This pivotal role will involve ensuring that our operations align with regulatory requirements while fostering innovation in our services. The successful candidate will lead a dedicated compliance team, working closely with various departments to implement best practices and maintain the highest standards of integrity and transparency in our operations.

What you’ll do Develop and implement comprehensive compliance programs tailored to the payments and digital assets sectors, ensuring adherence to local and international regulations.
Lead a team of compliance professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential compliance gaps and develop strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, operations, and technology, to ensure that compliance considerations are integrated into business processes and product development.
Monitor changes in regulations and industry standards, advising the executive team on necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, ensuring timely communication and resolution of compliance-related issues.
Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and the board, highlighting key compliance metrics and areas for improvement.




Oversee the development and execution of compliance training programs for all employees, fostering an understanding of compliance obligations and ethical standards.
Manage investigations into compliance breaches, ensuring thorough documentation and appropriate corrective actions are taken.
Stay informed about emerging trends in the payments and digital assets landscape, leveraging insights to enhance compliance strategies.
Participate in industry forums and working groups to represent Ott’s interests and stay abreast of best practices in compliance.
Lead audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of compliance initiatives and recommend improvements as necessary.
Requirements A minimum of 8 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field, with a focus on payments and digital assets.
Proven track record of developing and implementing compliance programs in a financial services or technology environment.
Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, including anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC), and data protection laws.
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable compliance strategies.
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and develop a high-performing compliance team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex compliance issues to diverse audiences.




Experience in conducting compliance audits and assessments, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to identifying risks.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
A degree in law, finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
Nice to have Professional certifications such as Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
Experience working in a startup or fintech setting, with an understanding of the unique compliance challenges in these sectors.
Familiarity with blockchain technology and its implications for compliance in the digital assets space.
Multilingual capabilities, particularly in languages relevant to Ott's global operations.
Skills & tools Proficient in compliance management software and tools for risk assessment and reporting.
Strong understanding of data privacy regulations and their application in the financial services industry.
Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools to oversee compliance initiatives effectively.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, for data analysis and presentations.
Practical notes This position is based in Toronto, Ontario, and may require occasional travel for meetings with regulatory bodies or industry events.
Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and may need to obtain relevant work authorization if not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
The role may involve working outside of standard business hours to accommodate international compliance requirements or urgent issues.
