Director, Customer Hardware Engineering at Tenstorrent. About the role In this pivotal position, you will oversee the technical collaboration between Tenstort and our key partners, ensuring that their silicon specifications are effectively addressed by our engineering teams. The role emphasizes the alignment of customer architectures with our platform's capabilities, aiming to enhance performance tailored to their unique AI workloads.

What you'll do Convert broad customer requirements into detailed engineering specifications that can be acted upon by the development teams.
Cultivate and manage the technical relationships with strategic clients, as well as with Field Application Engineering (FAE) teams to ensure seamless communication and project success.
Collaborate with internal software and hardware leaders to tailor NEO silicon configurations that meet the specific demands of our customers.
Oversee modifications to RTL (Register Transfer Level) and customizations of NEO to ensure that all project specifications are met effectively.
Act as a liaison between customer silicon teams and internal design verification groups to guarantee the reliable and timely delivery of projects.
Drive the optimization of customer architectures in line with Tensturt's platform capabilities to maximize performance for AI workloads.
Analyze and assess the impact of RTL design choices on software performance and the overall effectiveness of customer solutions.
Provide leadership and guidance to technical teams,



ensuring alignment on shared objectives and fostering a collaborative environment.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and engagement through effective technical support and communication.
Monitor industry trends and advancements in silicon technology to ensure Tenstourt remains at the forefront of innovation.
Prepare and present technical reports and updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and clarity in project progress.
Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Requirements Demonstrated leadership experience in managing technical teams that interact directly with customers or in overseeing Field Application Engineering organizations.
A solid technical foundation in RTL design, verification processes, and physical design related to custom silicon initiatives.
Proficiency in evaluating the implications of RTL design choices on software performance and overall customer solutions.
Exceptional communication abilities to effectively align internal teams, FAEs, and customers around common technical goals.
Experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.




A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to think critically under pressure.
Nice to have Familiarity with AI workloads and their specific requirements in silicon design.
Experience in working with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment.
Knowledge of emerging technologies in the hardware engineering space.
Previous experience in a customer-facing technical role within the semiconductor industry.
Advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
Skills & tools Proficient in RTL design methodologies and tools.
Expertise in design verification processes and tools.
Knowledge of physical design principles and practices.
Experience with NEO silicon configuration and customization.
Solid customer-facing technical management skills.
Practical notes The compensation for engineering positions at Tenstort ranges from $100,000 to $500,000, which includes both base salary and variable compensation components. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors such as education, experience, skills, background, and geographical location.
Candidates must be eligible to access U.S. export-controlled technology, which may necessitate U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or a license from the U.S. Commerce Department due to export regulations.
