Controller at Positrace. About the role Positrace is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Controller to join our team in Burnaby, British Columbia. This full-time position is pivotal in overseeing our financial operations and ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting. As the Controller, you will play a key role in shaping the financial strategy of our organization, providing insights that drive decision-making and support our growth initiatives. You will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure that our financial practices align with our business objectives.

What you'll do Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Manage the company's budgeting process, including forecasting and variance analysis to ensure financial targets are met.
Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process, ensuring all necessary documentation and support are provided.
Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and the board of directors, highlighting key performance indicators and financial trends.
Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local tax regulations, including timely filing and payment of taxes.




Analyze financial data to identify areas for cost reduction and operational efficiency, making recommendations to improve profitability.
Maintain relationships with financial institutions, ensuring access to necessary funding and managing banking relationships.
Assist in the development of financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and ensure compliance with best practices.
Support strategic planning initiatives by providing financial insights and analysis to guide business decisions.
Stay updated on industry trends and changes in financial regulations that may impact the organization.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is highly preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial management role, with a strong background in accounting and financial reporting.
Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
Exceptional communication skills,



both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing financial issues.
Nice to have Experience in the technology or software industry is an advantage.
Familiarity with international financial reporting standards (IFRS) is a plus.
Previous experience with financial modeling and scenario analysis.
Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements in Canada.
Experience in process improvement initiatives within finance functions.
Skills & tools Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and data analysis.
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is beneficial.
Strong understanding of financial reporting tools and dashboards.
Ability to utilize data visualization tools to present financial information effectively.
Practical notes This position is based in Burnaby, British Columbia, and requires candidates to have valid work authorization in Canada.
