These systems ensure the secure, reliable, and compliant operation of the electrical grid while meeting the needs of planners, regulators, customers, and stakeholders. As a Specialist Commissioning Engineer, you will play a key role in verifying and approving P&C systems before they are placed into service. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure assets are properly installed, tested, and commissioned. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, problem-solving, and working in a energetic environment. While based in Burnaby, the position includes travel to sites across British Columbia and occasional travel within North America. Key responsibilities:Serve as a subject matter expert in P&C commissioning for projectsAct as Professional of Record (PoR) for commissioning resultsLead testing and commissioning of complex P&C systems and equipmentDevelop and review commissioning and staging plans in coordination with engineering teams and the Control CenterReview and approve commissioning deliverables and test resultsProvide oversight and technical guidance for commissioning activitiesSupport field commissioning teams and resolve technical issues during construction and commissioningParticipate in constructability reviews and project planningEstablish and maintain commissioning standards, procedures,



and best practicesMentor and provide technical leadership to team membersAdditional accountabilitiesValidate field test results and provide final approval as PoRCollaborate with Field Operations, Quality Management, and project teams to ensure timely issue resolutionPrepare signed and sealed engineering deliverables in accordance with EGBC and BC Hydro standardsContribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, workflows, and quality practicesIdentify risks and develop practical, value-driven engineering solutionsLead meetings, deliver presentations, and represent the team in technical forumsSupport departmental objectives and performance goalsWhat you bringBachelor's (or higher) degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by Canadian Universities.Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists British ColumbiaMinimum 10 years of progressive experience in transmission systems, industrial control systems, cybersecurity, or systems engineeringAt least 4 years of experience leading and coordinating P&C commissioning on medium to large projectsStrong understanding of transmission system operations and multidisciplinary project impactsExperience in P&C design, settings, or systems engineering is considered an assetStrong commissioning experience with P&C systems is highly desirableExcellent leadership, communication,
