Position Overview: Pro Account Sales Associates (PASAs) are primarily responsible for building relationships and selling products to industrial, commercial and other professional customers. They provide outstanding service to customers through the sharing of product knowledge of all store departments and developing and maintaining qualified customer relationships. PASAs must have thorough knowledge of all departments and how to use the products in each department. This position also involves acting as a sales associate on the floor including all associated duties (e.g., keeping work area clean and organized).
Key Responsibilities:
- Spend a minimum of 25% of time pursuing recent business, mostly on the sales floor, actively prospecting customers already shopping in the store.
- Develop one-on-one relationships with Pro customers and anticipate their needs using knowledge of their line of business.
- Use GET Involved behaviors to ask clarifying questions, demonstrate effective up‑selling, add‑on selling and closing techniques to ensure all customer needs are met and the complete project is sold.
- Maintain an organized, up‑to‑date system for profiling and tracking top accounts as well as for developing new ones. Keep work area clean and organized.
- Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction, pursue future business and partner with Store Management to resolve outstanding issues.
- Strive to meet personal goals (e.g., sales, quotes, credit accounts) set by Supervisor and the goals of the team; create action plans to develop selling skills.
- Deliver sales presentations to potential customers outside of store (e.g., work site visits, meetings) only at the discretion of the Supervisor.
- Create customer quotes and process fax, phone and counter orders quickly and accurately; communicate order information to Pullers and Delivery Will Call Coordinators accurately so that customer expectations are met.
- Ensure orders are picked up and delivered by checking customer logbook; train and inform Store Associates about the Pro Program and encourage total store involvement.
- Provide outstanding customer service using GET Involved behaviors—greet, engage and thank; follow through on responsibilities; recover from any errors and leave customer satisfied.
- Demonstrate the ability to get results despite a large workload, competing demands and a fast‑paced environment.
- Act with integrity, demonstrate responsible and honest behavior in all Home Depot roles.
- Communicate effectively, create open communication channels, adapt messages to fit the audience, express ideas clearly and concisely, keep others well informed, and listen carefully to feedback.
- Show awareness of how work performed is interrelated with organizational goals, competition, business and industry.
- Maintain positive working relationships with co‑workers and handle interpersonal conflict situations effectively.
- Set priorities, plan and coordinate work activities, manage resources to accomplish goals on time and within budget.
- Know all departments/areas, promote products and services effectively, and overcome customer objections to facilitate sales.

Physical Requirements:
- Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items – ability to lift and move heavy and bulky items without assistance.
- Responding to public address system announcements – listening for customer service calls, personal pages and general information announcements.
- Climbing ladders – up to 16 feet to obtain or stock merchandise.
- Walking and standing – moving around the store to assist customers.
- Identifying and reading reports, tickets and UPC labels – recognizing, identifying and using merchandise and reports.
Working Conditions:
- Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the store, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing an uneven walking surface.
- The warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy; doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.
- Floors around work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions.
- Handling merchandise and using tools with sharp edges.
- Passing forklifts emit gas fumes.
- Tools, supplies and related merchandise may contain hazardous materials.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
