About the role Enfinite is seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our Digital Systems team in Calgary, Alberta. What you'll do Design and implement scalable data pipelines to facilitate the collection, storage, and processing of large datasets from various sources.
Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data needs and provide them with the necessary tools and infrastructure.
Optimize existing data systems for performance and reliability, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient data retrieval.
Develop and maintain documentation for data architecture, data flows, and data models to ensure transparency and facilitate onboarding for new team members.
Monitor data quality and integrity, implementing automated checks and balances to identify and rectify data discrepancies.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in data engineering, ensuring high standards of code quality and maintainability.
Work with cloud-based data solutions, leveraging platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud to enhance data accessibility and processing capabilities.
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering, recommending new tools and techniques that could benefit the team.
Assist in the migration of legacy data systems to modern architectures, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Engage in troubleshooting and resolving data-related issues, providing timely support to internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure data governance and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Participate in agile development processes, contributing to sprint planning and retrospectives to continuously improve team workflows.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role, with a proven track record of building and maintaining data pipelines.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including but not limited to MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
Familiarity with data warehousing solutions and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
and their data services, such as AWS Redshift, Azure Data Lake, or Google BigQuery.
Strong analytical and problem-solve skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a rapid-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with version control systems, preferably Git, and familiarity with CI/CD practices.
Nice to have Previous experience in the energy sector or with digital transformation projects.
Familiarity with machine learning concepts and tools, enabling collaboration with data science teams.
Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
Understanding of data privacy regulations and best practices in data governance.
