About the role As an FX Supervisor at Imageengine, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual effects that bring our projects to life. This position requires a blend of artistic vision and technical expertise, allowing you to lead a talented team in the creation of stunning visual effects for various media. You will be responsible for overseeing the FX pipeline, ensuring that projects meet both artistic and technical standards while adhering to deadlines and budgets.

What you'll do - Lead a team of FX artists, providing guidance and mentorship to foster their professional growth and enhance the overall quality of work.
- Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and other departments to understand project requirements and translate them into effective visual effects solutions.
- Develop and maintain the FX pipeline, ensuring that workflows are efficient and that tools are optimized for the team's needs.
- Oversee the creation of high-quality simulations, including fluid dynamics, particle effects, and destruction simulations, ensuring they align with the artistic vision of the project.
- Conduct regular reviews of work in progress, providing constructive feedback to artists and ensuring that the final output meets the highest standards of quality.
- Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during production, working with the technical team to resolve challenges and streamline processes.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in visual effects technology,



integrating new techniques and tools into the workflow as appropriate.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring that the team meets deadlines while maintaining a high level of creativity and innovation.
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new FX artists, helping to build a strong and capable team.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations, articulating the creative vision and technical aspects of the FX work to stakeholders.
- Document processes and create training materials to help onboard current team members and improve overall team efficiency.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, encouraging open communication and idea sharing among team members.
Requirements - A minimum of 5 years of experience in visual effects production, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Houdini, Maya, and Nuke, with a strong understanding of particle systems, fluid simulations, and dynamics.
- A solid portfolio showcasing a range of high-quality FX work, demonstrating both artistic flair and technical skill.
- Strong leadership abilities, with experience managing teams and providing constructive feedback to artists.




- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A deep understanding of the visual effects pipeline and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges efficiently.
Nice to have - Experience with real-time rendering engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Familiarity with scripting languages like Python or MEL to enhance workflow automation.
- Previous experience in a feature film or high-end television production environment.
- Knowledge of compositing techniques and software to better integrate FX into final shots.
- A degree in Computer Graphics, Animation, or a related field is a plus.
Skills & tools - Strong artistic skills with a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling through visual effects.
- Technical proficiency in creating and managing complex simulations and effects.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies to effectively oversee project timelines and deliverables.
- Ability to adapt to new software and technologies quickly, with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
Practical notes - This position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and may require occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
