What you'll do Design and implement robust software solutions that enhance the Lyft Marketplace, focusing on scalability and performance.
Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable tasks.
Develop and maintain APIs that facilitate seamless interactions between various components of the Lyft ecosystem.
Optimize existing systems for performance improvements, ensuring a smooth user experience across all platforms.
Participate in code reviews to uphold high coding standards and promote best practices within the engineering team.
Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and development.
Analyze system performance metrics and troubleshoot issues to ensure the reliability and availability of marketplace services.
Engage in agile development processes, participating in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups,



and retrospectives to continuously improve team efficiency.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, integrating relevant advancements into the Lyft Marketplace.
Contribute to the documentation of system architecture and design decisions to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including data science and operations, to develop data‑driven solutions that enhance marketplace dynamics.
Lead initiatives to improve the overall developer experience, streamlining workflows and enhancing toolsets used by the engineering team.
Requirements A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on building scalable applications.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go, with a solid understanding of software engineering principles.
Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong knowledge of database systems, both SQL and NoSQL, and experience with data modeling and query optimization.
Familiarity with microservices architecture and RESTful API design.




Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, cooperative environment.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have Experience with real‑time data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache Flink).
Familiarity with front‑end technologies such as React or Angular to collaborate effectively with front‑end teams.
Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application within marketplace dynamics.
Previous experience in the transportation or logistics industry is a plus.
Contributions to open‑source projects or active participation in the tech community.
