About the role Cira is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer to join our energetic team in Ottawa, Ontario. In this fixed-term position, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining innovative software solutions that enhance our services and meet the evolving needs of our clients. As a key member of our development team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products that align with Cira's mission and values.

What you'll do Lead the design and implementation of software applications, ensuring they meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into technical specifications.
Develop high-quality, maintainable, and efficient code using modern programming languages and frameworks.
Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
Troubleshoot and debug software issues, providing timely resolutions to enhance system performance and user experience.
Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from conception through deployment and maintenance, ensuring timely delivery of projects.
Mentor junior developers, providing guidance and support to help them grow their technical skills and knowledge.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending innovative solutions that can be integrated into our software development processes.




Collaborate with QA engineers to develop and execute test plans, ensuring the software is thoroughly tested before deployment.
Document software designs, processes, and procedures to maintain clear communication and knowledge sharing within the team.
Engage in Agile development practices, participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to enhance team collaboration and productivity.
Work closely with DevOps teams to streamline deployment processes and improve system reliability and scalability.
Requirements A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on web applications.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript, along with experience in relevant frameworks (e.g., Spring, Django, React).
Solid understanding of software development methodologies, particularly Agile and DevOps practices.
Experience with database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL databases, and an understanding of data modeling concepts.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).




Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
A passion for technology and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Nice to have Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, Vue.js).
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
Familiarity with security best practices in software development and experience implementing secure coding techniques.
Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a software development team.
Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio demonstrating your software development capabilities.
