What you’ll do Develop and implement comprehensive media relations strategies that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
Create compelling press releases, media kits, and other communication materials to effectively convey our message to the public and media outlets.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media representatives, and influencers to enhance our visibility and reputation.
Monitor media coverage and analyze public sentiment regarding our initiatives, providing insights to inform future communication strategies.
Organize and coordinate press events, media briefings, and other public relations activities to promote our projects and achievements.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and website content.
Act as a spokesperson for the organization,



responding to media inquiries and representing our interests in interviews and public appearances.
Conduct research to identify emerging trends and opportunities in media relations, adapting strategies accordingly to maximize impact.
Provide training and support to team members on media engagement best practices and effective communication techniques.
Develop bilingual content for various platforms, ensuring clarity and cultural relevance for both English and French‑speaking audiences.
Evaluate the effectiveness of media campaigns and communication efforts, making recommendations for improvements based on data‑driven insights.
Stay updated on industry developments and best practices in media relations and communications to continuously enhance our approach.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or communications, preferably in a bilingual environment.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and French, with a keen eye for detail.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with media professionals and stakeholders.




Robust organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Experience in developing and executing communication strategies that drive engagement and awareness.
Proficiency in using social media platforms and digital communication tools to enhance outreach efforts.
Familiarity with media monitoring tools and analytics to assess the impact of communication initiatives.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
Nice to have Experience in crisis communication and reputation management.
Knowledge of the Ottawa business landscape and local media outlets.
Familiarity with graphic design tools and content creation software.
Previous experience in a non‑profit or community‑focused organization.
Understanding of digital marketing principles and SEO best practices.
Skills & tools The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in media relations, bilingual communication, and strategic planning. Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, social media management platforms, and media monitoring software is essential. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is also advantageous.
