As a Look Development Artist at Imageengine, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual aesthetics of our projects. Your expertise will contribute to the creation of high-quality digital assets that meet the artistic vision of our clients and enhance the storytelling of our animations and visual effects. What you'll do Collaborate with the art director and other team members to establish the visual style and look of various projects, ensuring alignment with the overall artistic vision.
Create and refine shaders, textures, and materials that bring characters and environments to life, paying close attention to detail and realism.
Utilize industry-standard software such as Maya, Houdini, and Substance Painter to develop high-quality assets that meet project specifications.
Conduct look development tests and iterations, providing feedback and adjustments based on artistic direction and technical requirements.
Work alongside lighting and compositing teams to ensure that the developed looks integrate seamlessly into the final renders.
Participate in design reviews and critiques, offering constructive feedback to peers and receiving input to enhance your own work.
Maintain an organized workflow and documentation of processes to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.
Stay updated with the latest trends and techniques in look development, incorporating new ideas and methods into your work to keep our projects at the forefront of the industry.
Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during the look development process, ensuring that deadlines are met without compromising quality.
Mentor junior artists and interns, providing guidance and support to help them grow their skills in look development.
Contribute to the development of best practices and workflows within the look development team, enhancing overall efficiency and output quality.
Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions, contributing creative ideas that align with project goals and enhance team collaboration.
Requirements A minimum of 3 years of experience in look development or a related field within the visual effects or animation industry.
Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya, Houdini, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
Strong understanding of shading, lighting, and texturing principles, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
Experience working in a collaborative team environment, demonstrating effective communication and interpersonal skills.
A solid portfolio showcasing your look development work, including examples of shaders, textures, and completed projects.
Familiarity with rendering engines such as Arnold, V-Ray, or Redshift, and an understanding of their integration into production pipelines.
Nice to have Experience with real-time rendering engines like Unreal Engine or Unity, particularly in the context of look development.
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or MEL to automate processes and enhance workflows.
Previous experience in mentoring or leading teams, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and creative environment.
An understanding of the latest trends in visual effects and animation, with a passion for continuous learning and professional development.
