Staff Software Engineer, Quality & Reliability at BuildOps. About the role As a Staff Software Engineer focusing on Quality and Reliability at BuildOps, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our software products to ensure they meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions that enhance user experience and operational efficiency. This position requires a strong technical background, as well as a passion for quality assurance and reliability engineering practices. You will be instrumental in driving initiatives that elevate our software quality, ultimately contributing to the success of our mission to serve commercial contractors effectively.

What you'll do Design and implement robust testing frameworks to ensure the reliability and performance of our software products.
Collaborate with product managers and software engineers to define quality standards and ensure alignment with project goals.
Analyze and troubleshoot issues reported by users, providing timely resolutions and feedback to the development team.
Develop automated test scripts and maintain a comprehensive suite of tests to cover various aspects of the software lifecycle.
Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and identify potential quality concerns early in the development process.
Monitor application performance and reliability metrics, using insights to propose enhancements and optimizations.
Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on quality assurance methodologies and tools.




Actively engage in continuous integration and deployment processes, ensuring that quality checks are integrated into the development pipeline.
Lead initiatives to improve overall software quality, including implementing new tools and technologies that support testing and reliability.
Document testing processes and results, ensuring transparency and facilitating knowledge sharing within the team.
Requirements A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on quality assurance and reliability.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#, with a solid understanding of software development principles.
Extensive experience with automated testing frameworks and tools, including Selenium, JUnit, or similar technologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues and propose effective solutions.
Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices, as well as version control systems like Git.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
A proactive mindset, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality software and improving processes.
Experience working in an Agile development environment, with a focus on collaboration and iterative improvement.




Nice to have Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and experience with deploying applications in cloud environments.
Familiarity with performance testing tools and methodologies, including load and stress testing.
Experience with monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus or Grafana, to track application performance.
Understanding of security best practices in software development, with a focus on building secure applications.
