Technical Writer at Geospectrum Geospectrum is seeking a skilled Technical Writer to join our dynamic team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. What you'll do Develop and maintain a variety of technical documents, including user manuals, installation guides, and online help systems, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date.
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather information and clarify technical details necessary for documentation.
Create and implement documentation standards and best practices to enhance the quality and consistency of all written materials.
Conduct thorough reviews of technical content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to company guidelines.
Utilize various tools and software to produce high-quality documentation, including graphics and diagrams to enhance understanding.
Participate in product development meetings to stay informed about new features and updates, ensuring that documentation reflects the latest information.




Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
Provide training and support to team members on documentation tools and processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Engage with users to gather feedback on documentation and make necessary adjustments to improve usability and effectiveness.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in technology to ensure documentation practices remain relevant and effective.
Assist in the development of marketing materials that complement technical documentation, highlighting product features and benefits.
Contribute to the creation of internal knowledge bases and resources to support team members and enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing or a similar role, preferably within the technology or engineering sectors.
Strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to translate complex information into explicit, user-friendly content.
Proficiency in documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or Microsoft Word, along with graphic design software like Adobe Illustrator or Visio.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills,



with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality.
Experience working in a collaborative team environment, with the ability to manage relationships with various stakeholders effectively.
Nice to have Familiarity with marine technology or related industries, providing context for the products and services offered by Geospectrum.
Experience with content management systems (CMS) and version control systems, enhancing the documentation workflow.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams, contributing to a flexible and responsive documentation process.
Certification in technical writing or related fields, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and industry standards.
Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and their application in technical documentation, improving user engagement and satisfaction.
Skills & tools Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basic web design principles, enabling the creation of online documentation.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, allowing for innovative approaches to documentation challenges.
Ability to work independently and take initiative, while also being a collaborative team player.
Practical notes This position is based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
