Infrastructure Administrator at Cira. About the role Cira is seeking a dedicated Infrastructure Administrator to join our team in Ottawa, Ontario. This full-time position is essential for maintaining and enhancing our IT infrastructure, ensuring that our systems operate efficiently and securely. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing server environments, network configurations, and cloud services. You will play a pivotal role in supporting our organization's technological needs while contributing to the overall success of our operations.

What you'll do Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers and network equipment to ensure optimal performance and security.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, implementing solutions to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Manage cloud services and virtualized environments, ensuring they are properly configured and maintained.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various IT projects, providing infrastructure expertise and guidance.
Develop and maintain documentation related to system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance.
Implement security protocols and best practices to safeguard sensitive data and maintain compliance with industry standards.
Conduct regular system audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.




Provide technical support and training to staff members, helping them utilize IT resources effectively.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring business continuity in the event of system failures.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, making recommendations for upgrades and enhancements.
Assist in budget planning for IT infrastructure projects and manage resources effectively to stay within financial constraints.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying areas for process optimization and efficiency gains.
Requirements A minimum of 3 years of experience in infrastructure administration or a related field.
Strong knowledge of server operating systems, including Windows Server and Linux distributions.
Proficiency in network protocols, firewalls, and VPNs, with hands‑on experience in network configuration and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including experience in managing cloud resources.
Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V, is highly desirable.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.




Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation of routine tasks.
Knowledge of ITIL framework and best practices for IT service management.
Familiarity with database management systems and backup solutions.
Previous experience in a non-profit or public sector environment is a plus.
