What sets us apart is our deep industry knowledge, extensive capabilities, and an unwavering commitment to superior service.Senior Project ManagerThe Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed on time, on budget, and within the project scope. You will plan and designate resources, compare estimated budget to ongoing budget, monitor progress and keep stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle. The Senior Project Manager oversees the portfolios of all Project Managers ensuring profitability and long-term customer relations. The Senior Project Manager may be responsible for supervising and leading other project staff in partnership with the Branch Manager.Responsibilities & DutiesManages Assigned ProjectsOversee all aspects of projects over the entire project life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close) preparing and maintaining detailed documentation as requiredParticipate in regular meetings with Project Managers overseeing the documentation and project status reports, progress, and risks (includes schedules and financials)Monitor team dynamics and accountability related to deliverablesEnsure cERP, eMullion and Groupware are currentProject Management OversightReview and confirm accuracy of project estimates, contracts,
and notes; communicate inconsistences to the Senior Project ManagerUnderstand and manage risks of projectSelect technical team members and communicate responsibilitiesSelect suppliers and any pre-negotiated discounts/termsIdentify installer and installation requirementsSet project schedule and identify deliverables and critical datesReview and manage all estimated costs, project opportunities and profitability targetsIdentify any special billing requirements for the base contract (ie. Based on floor milestones)Review and prepare all contemplated change notices (approvals by SPM)Communicate quoted change notices to the customer and obtain sign offEnsure customer is billed on time in accordance with contract terms, including any approved change notices or extrasRespond to customer inquiries on billing and resolution of issues proactivelyEnsure appropriate shop drawings and/or schedules are approved within specific timelinesOrder required materials to be delivered on time and inspect to make sure they are undamagedLiaise with suppliers to ensure goods are fabricated and itemized within scope, timeline, and budgetProactively and professionally communicate any changes to product scope, budget, timeline and scheduling to all stakeholdersWork closely with customers to ensure products are being installed accurately and within the scheduled timelinesAttend site meetings when requiredProject CompletionEnsure projects are completed based on CP Distributors established systems and proceduresReview billing is complete according to base contract, including change notices and extras to the original contractResolve any product/install deficiencies proactivelyReview overall project with team members to identify what worked well and where improvements can be madeAssist with collections on delinquent projects as neededDepartmental responsibilitiesLead, organize and detail biweekly PM meetings with minutes,
speakers and other deptsAll pricebook updates / supplier updates to be distrusted/communicated to required depts - follow ups may be requiredVendor meetings/drops in to be organized and attendance supportedWork with BM to assign projects/workloadTraining involvement with staff on processes/proceduresInterview participation may be requiredEducation / CertificationsPost‐secondary diploma or degree in a related engineering, architectural or construction management programAHC designation is considered a strong assetCET and/or PMP (or similar) designations are considered an assetExperienceMinimum 7+ years' experience in a Project Management role with commercial construction or building supply distribution, specifically with building openings (doors, frames, and hardware)Proven ability to apply technical knowledge and code requirements associated with production and review of technical drawingsDirect industry experience considered a strong assetKnowledge and experience in commercial construction or building supply distributionExperience managing multiple construction projects varied in size and scopeExperience with developing, monitoring and adjusting budgetsExperience leading and overseeing project teamsWork is performed in an office setting and may require occasional lifting 20lbsSkillsStrong time management and organizational skills with demonstrated ability for self‐management of multiple simultaneous priorities/deadlinesAbility to lead and inspire project teams to achieve excellence in project executionExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCreative problem solver who works in a qualified mannerAdept and professional in negotiation techniques focused on mutually beneficial outcomesComfortable operating in a multi‐project environmentClear and intentional communicationInfluencing as a peerAccountability & ownershipStrategic thinking & adaptabilityBenefits & DevelopmentAccessSMT-CP puts its people first.
