Amanda & Amber Business Consulting is a boutique Human Resources firm supporting small and medium-sized organizations across Canada. We are a women-founded team with a strong emphasis on work-life harmony, community involvement, and client-centered engagement.
We are looking for a casual/part-time Senior HR Consultant to join our growing team. This role is primarily remote, with some in-person meetings or projects. Calgary-based applicants will be given priority due to occasional client meetings and events.
The Role
Client Strategy & Executive Advisory
Serve as the senior strategic HR advisor for multiple clients, building trusted relationships with business owners, executives, and boards.
- - Act as a fractional HR Director or executive HR partner, aligning people strategies with business objectives.
- - Provide strategic guidance on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, talent strategy, culture, leadership development, and change management.
- - Coach senior leaders through complex people decisions while balancing business needs, legal considerations, and employee experience.
- - Help clients establish meaningful HR metrics and KPIs, demonstrating the value and impact of HR initiatives.
- Project Leadership & Strategic Delivery
Lead the planning and execution of complex HR projects, including organizational transformations, restructures, strategic planning sessions, culture initiatives, and change management programs.
Oversee project delivery from strategy through implementation while ensuring exceptional client service.
Review and provide quality assurance on key client deliverables to maintain the firm's high standards.
Manage multiple client priorities while maintaining clear communication and strong project management practices.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
Mentor, coach, and support junior and intermediate consultants in their professional development.
Delegate work effectively, ensuring projects are appropriately resourced and completed to a high standard.
Provide guidance on complex HR matters and support consultants in navigating challenging client situations.
Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning across the consulting team.
Business Development & Practice Growth
Strengthen existing client relationships by proactively identifying opportunities to expand services.
Prepare proposals, scope new projects, and secure client approval for additional work.
Collaborate with leadership to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
Contribute to the ongoing development of consulting tools, templates, and service offerings that support firm growth.
General
While most work is performed remotely, occasional in-person meetings or projects may be required.
Maintain a white-glove, responsive, and professional approach in all client interactions.

Our Ideal Candidate
Must-Haves
15+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant strategic leadership experience across workforce planning, organizational development, talent management, change management, and employee relations.
Previous experience operating at the Director level or equivalent, with demonstrated business and financial acumen.
Proven ability to advise business owners, executives, and boards on complex people and organizational challenges.
Experience leading strategic HR initiatives and managing multiple client relationships simultaneously.
Robust leadership skills with experience mentoring, coaching, or leading HR professionals or consultants.
Exceptional communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues and build credibility quickly.
Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to balance competing priorities.
Tech-savvy and comfortable working in a primarily remote environment (Teams, SharePoint, and other collaborative tools).
Availability for at least 15 hours per week, with at least 75% of hours overlapping with our core business hours: Monday-Thursday: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm MT Friday: 8:30 am - 12:30 pm MT
Nice-to-Haves
CPHR designation or equivalent HR credentials.
Experience supporting unionized environments or leading workplace investigations.
Previous consulting or fractional HR leadership experience.
Strong business development experience, including proposal writing and account growth.
Experience facilitating executive workshops, strategic planning sessions, or organizational change initiatives.
