Duties

Performs preventive maintenance inspections and maintenance services on electrical and mechanical systems.

Investigates, diagnoses and repairs, maintains, overhauls and/or repairs electrical and/or mechanical systems and equipment.

Maintains computer-controlled electro-pneumatic energy monitoring and control systems.

Operates, maintains, repairs and calibrates the Building Management control system, stand alone direct digital controls, pneumatic control systems and process logic controllers.

Assists in the implementation of new laboratory projects, major and minor by reviewing drawings, estimating material and participating as a member of the on-site technical support team.

Willing and available to travel, as required.

Willing and available to work irregular hours (e.g., days, nights, weekends, statutory holidays).

Willing and available to work overtime, as required.

To have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

To use in the prescribed circumstances and manner all prescribed safety materials, equipment, devices and clothing.

Willing and able to be immunized as indicated by job risk, location, overseas travel and other identified risks.

To use prescribed and provided respiratory equipment that meets the respiratory program requirements; to undergo fit testing (e.g. may need to be clean-shaven, depending on the respirator design).

Willingness to abide by strict biosecurity protocols which may require showering several times a day or abiding by certain restrictions on contact with livestock outside of the workplace.

Willing and able to work in environmentally challenging or physically demanding conditions.

Willing and able to work in environmentally challenging or physically demanding conditions and with pathogens in high security laboratory biocontainment or with potential allergens.

Willing and able to work in environmentally challenging or physically demanding conditions including at heights, on and over water, aboard vessels in adverse weather and varying light conditions.

To successfully complete Fall Arrest and Rescue Training.

Security clearance under the Human Pathogens and Toxins Act (HPTA) may be required for certain laboratory positions.

Willing and able to arrive at the designated work site within one (1) hour of being contacted while on stand-by.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
EEd1- Hold a Red Seal Interprovincial Journeymen Electrician Certification.If you are selected for further consideration in this staffing process, you will be asked to provide proof of your education credentials at a later date.Applicants submitting education credentials from a non-Canadian institution are responsible for obtaining certification that these credentials are the equivalent of the Canadian education level required for the position.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

EE1 - Recent and significant experience maintaining, installing and repairing industrial or commercial electrical distribution systems.

EE2 - Recent and significant experience using computer programs, including standard word processing and spreadsheet programs.

EE3 - Recent and significant experience maintaining a building's electrical equipment, HVAC systems (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) and building automated controls.



Recent and significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience gained via the performance of duties over a period of approximately 1 year over the past 5 years.
