What you'll do Lead and manage a team of researchers, providing guidance and support to ensure project success and professional development.
Develop and implement research strategies that align with Uja's mission and objectives, ensuring that all initiatives are data-driven and evidence-based.
Oversee the design and execution of research projects, including qualitative and quantitative studies, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify research needs and opportunities, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Analyze and interpret complex data sets, translating findings into actionable insights and recommendations for stakeholders.
Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate research findings to internal and external audiences, including senior management and partners.
Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements in all research activities, maintaining the integrity of the research process.




Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in research methodologies, integrating new techniques and technologies into Uja's research practices.
Mentor and train junior researchers, promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional growth.
Manage relationships with external research partners, vendors, and academic institutions to enhance research capabilities and expand Uja's network.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of research initiatives, using metrics to assess effectiveness and inform future projects.
Contribute to grant writing and funding proposals to secure resources for research initiatives, ensuring alignment with Uja's strategic priorities.
Requirements A Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant field such as social sciences, public health, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in research management, preferably within a nonprofit or academic setting.
Proven track record of successfully leading research projects from conception to completion, with a strong focus on data analysis and interpretation.
Exceptional analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical software and data visualization tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
Experience in managing and mentoring research teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work workplace.




Knowledge of ethical guidelines and best practices in research, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
Familiarity with grant writing and funding processes, with experience securing research funding preferred.
Nice to have Experience in a specific research area relevant to Uja's mission, such as community health, social justice, or education.
Familiarity with advanced research methodologies, including mixed methods and longitudinal studies.
Previous experience working in a multicultural environment, with an understanding of diverse community needs.
Proficiency in additional languages, enhancing communication with diverse populations.
Skills & tools Strong proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, or Python) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Excellent project management skills, with experience using project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello, or Microsoft Project).
Advanced knowledge of research design and methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative approaches.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Practical notes This position is based in North York, Ontario, and may require occasional travel for research purposes or conferences.
