Data Science Manager, Rider Experience About the role As a Data Science Manager focusing on Rider Experience at Lyft, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the overall journey of our riders. You will lead a team of data scientists, guiding them to derive insights from complex datasets that will inform strategic decisions and improve service delivery. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of user behavior to drive initiatives that elevate the rider experience. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement data-driven solutions that align with Lyft's mission of providing reliable and efficient transportation.
What you'll do Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
Develop and execute data science strategies that enhance the rider experience, focusing on user satisfaction and retention.
Analyze large datasets to uncover trends and insights that inform product development and operational improvements.
Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate data findings into actionable recommendations and features.
Design and implement machine learning models to predict rider behavior and optimize service offerings.
Conduct A/B testing and other experimental methodologies to evaluate the impact of new features on rider satisfaction.
Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, translating complex data into understandable insights.




Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in data science to ensure Lyft remains at the forefront of innovation.
Work closely with marketing teams to develop targeted campaigns based on data-driven insights into rider preferences.
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of initiatives aimed at improving the rider experience.
Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure the availability and quality of data for analysis.
Advocate for data-driven decision-making across the organization, promoting the value of analytics in enhancing rider experiences.
Requirements A Master's degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in data science or analytics, with a proven track record of managing teams.
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries.
Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and tools, such as TensorFlow or scikit-learn.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI,



or similar platforms.
Solid analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
A solid understanding of statistical methods and experimental design.
Proven experience in working with large datasets and big data technologies.
Nice to have Experience in the transportation or ride-sharing industry, with an understanding of rider behavior and preferences.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
Knowledge of SQL and experience with database management systems.
Previous experience in a product management role or collaborating closely with product teams.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in fast-paced environments.
