Mechanical & HVACR Estimator at Broadway About the role Broadway is seeking a skilled Mechanical & HVACR Estimator to join our energetic team in Burnaby, British Columbia. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects within the mechanical and HVACR sectors. As an estimator, you will play a crucial role in analyzing project specifications, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring that our projects are completed on time and within budget. What you’ll do Conduct thorough reviews of project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for mechanical and HVACR projects.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and clarify project requirements.
Analyze labor, material, and overhead costs to develop detailed estimates that reflect the true scope of work.
Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to streamline the estimation process and enhance accuracy.
Prepare and present bid proposals to clients, ensuring that all necessary information is included and clearly communicated.
Monitor and track project budgets throughout the lifecycle of each project, making adjustments as necessary to maintain financial targets.




Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gain a better understanding of project conditions and requirements.
Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and best practices to continuously improve estimating processes and methodologies.
Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines to ensure timely completion of estimates and proposals.
Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and correspondence for future reference and compliance.
Provide mentorship and training to junior estimators and other team members as needed to foster a collaborative work environment.
Engage in post-project evaluations to assess the accuracy of estimates and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical and HVACR estimating, with a proven track record of successful project bids.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, HVACR principles, and relevant building codes and regulations.
Proficiency in using estimating software such as Bluebeam, Trimble, or similar tools.
Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all estimates.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal,



to effectively convey information to clients and team members.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Familiarity with project management principles and practices is a plus.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Nice to have Certification as a Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst (CCEA) or similar designation.
Experience with sustainable building practices and energy-efficient systems.
Knowledge of local construction market trends and pricing.
Familiarity with contract negotiation and procurement processes.
Skills & tools Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
Experience with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
Strong mathematical skills for accurate cost calculations and financial analysis.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) is advantageous.
Practical notes This position is based in Burnaby, British Columbia, and may require occasional travel to project sites within the region.
Candidates must possess valid work authorization in Canada.
