What you'll do Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations and analyses to assess site conditions and inform project design.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop geotechnical design solutions that meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation that summarize findings, methodologies, and recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
Utilize advanced geotechnical software and tools to model site conditions and predict behavior under various loading scenarios.
Participate in fieldwork, including soil sampling, in-situ testing, and monitoring of construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications.
Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any geotechnical issues that may arise and ensuring that solutions are implemented effectively.
Engage with clients to understand their needs and expectations, providing expert advice and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies,
and best practices to enhance the quality of services provided by Bgcengineering.
Mentor junior engineers and interns, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the team.
Contribute to business development efforts by preparing proposals and participating in client presentations.
Ensure adherence to health and safety standards in all aspects of work, promoting a safe working environment for all team members.
Collaborate with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Requirements A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical or geological engineering, preferably in a consulting environment.
Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software, such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar tools.
Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Familiarity with local regulations and standards related to geotechnical engineering and environmental assessments.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or eligibility for registration in British Columbia is preferred.
Nice to have Experience with geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring techniques.
Knowledge of environmental assessment processes and sustainable engineering practices.
Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies.
Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a technical team.
Participation in professional organizations related to geotechnical engineering.
Skills & tools Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex geotechnical challenges.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software for creating site plans and drawings.
Ability to conduct field investigations and interpret geological and geotechnical data effectively.
Strong organizational skills to manage project timelines and deliverables efficiently.
Practical notes This position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and may require occasional travel to project sites within the region.
