Senior Research Scientist - Toxicology at AbCellera. About the role We are on the lookout for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Research Scientist to join our Nonclinical Safety team. This position is pivotal in the design and implementation of toxicology studies aimed at assessing the safety profiles of our drug candidates. A comprehensive understanding of toxicology principles, coupled with hands‑on experience in both in vitro and in vivo studies, is crucial for success in this role.

What you'll do Lead the design and implementation of in vitro and/or in vivo toxicology studies, ensuring adherence to global regulatory standards while aligning with the strategic objectives of the organization.
Serve as a subject matter expert in Nonclinical Safety within interdisciplinary teams, representing this function in both internal discussions and external engagements.
Interpret complex toxicology data, offering clear, actionable risk-benefit analyses and strategic recommendations to project teams and leadership.
Ensure meticulous documentation of nonclinical safety studies in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
Draft and review the toxicology and safety pharmacology sections of regulatory submissions, including INDs, CTAs, IBs, and BLAs.
Collaborate with scientists from various departments at AbCellera to guarantee high-quality data and support program advancement.
Contribute to the progression of toxicology initiatives and represent nonclinical safety/toxicology as necessary.




Remain informed about the latest developments in toxicology literature and regulatory guidelines pertinent to AbCellera's portfolio, integrating insights into best practices.
Requirements A PhD in Toxicology or a related discipline, along with 5-8 years of industry experience in biologics development; candidates with a Master's degree and over 10 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
Extensive hands‑on experience in conducting in vitro and/or in vivo toxicology studies.
Demonstrated expertise in the nonclinical safety evaluation of large molecules/biologics.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving capabilities to assess complex datasets and propose effective solutions.
Exceptional scientific writing, communication, and collaboration skills to facilitate discussions and influence decision‑making.
DABT certification is highly desirable but not a strict requirement.
Nice to have Experience with regulatory submissions and interactions with health authorities.
Familiarity with the latest toxicology software and data analysis tools.
Background in antibody‑based therapies or biologics development.
Skills & tools Proficient in toxicology assessment methodologies, both in vitro and in vivo.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and guidelines related to nonclinical safety.
Expertise in data analysis and interpretation,



with a focus on risk assessment.
Familiarity with Valuable Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards and documentation practices.
Practical notes The salary for this position ranges from CAD $115,000 to $143,000 annually, depending on your qualifications and relevant experience. In addition to the base salary, we offer equity options, an annual performance‑based bonus, and a 6% RRSP contribution that does not require matching.
