About the role Conetec is seeking dedicated Sonic Drillers and Drillers in Training to join our dynamic team in Calgary, Alberta. What you'll do Operate sonic drilling rigs and associated equipment, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational guidelines.
Collaborate with project managers and team members to plan and execute drilling projects effectively.
Conduct site assessments to determine the best drilling methods and techniques for specific geological conditions.
Monitor and record drilling parameters, including penetration rates, torque, and fluid levels, to ensure optimal performance.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on drilling equipment to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
Assist in the preparation of drilling reports and documentation, providing accurate data for project evaluation.
Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on industry best practices and safety regulations.




Engage in continuous learning opportunities to develop skills in sonic drilling techniques and equipment operation.
Support the training and mentoring of junior drillers and trainees, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Maintain a clean and organized worksite, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, addressing any concerns or inquiries related to drilling operations.
Contribute to the development of innovative drilling solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in drilling or related fields is preferred.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in drilling operations, with a focus on sonic drilling being a significant advantage.
Strong understanding of drilling equipment and techniques, with the ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written,



to interact with team members and clients.
Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to various job sites as required.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong collaboration skills.
Nice to have Previous experience in environmental drilling or geotechnical investigations.
Familiarity with data collection and reporting software used in drilling operations.
Knowledge of local geological conditions and regulations in Alberta.
Additional certifications in safety training, such as WHMIS or First Aid/CPR.
Experience with other drilling methods, such as rotary or auger drilling, is a plus.
Skills & tools Proficiency in operating sonic drilling rigs and related equipment.
Familiarity with drilling software and data management tools.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the drilling industry.
Ability to analyze geological data and make informed decisions based on findings.
Practical notes This position may require working outdoors in various weather conditions and physically demanding tasks.
Candidates should be prepared for potential travel to remote job sites across Alberta and surrounding regions.
