Product Design Manager, Core Rider Journey at Lyft About the role Lyft is seeking a talented Product Design Manager to lead the Core Rider Journey team in Toronto, Canada. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping the user experience for millions of riders who rely on Lyft for their transportation needs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative design solutions that enhance the rider experience while ensuring alignment with Lyft's overall mission. What you'll do Lead the design process for the Core Rider Journey, from ideation to execution, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience across all platforms.
Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize design requirements that align with business goals.
Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and validate design concepts, translating findings into actionable design improvements.
Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs that effectively communicate design ideas and user flows.
Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration within the design team.
Advocate for user-centered design principles, ensuring that the needs and preferences of riders are at the forefront of product development.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in product design, applying this knowledge to continuously improve the design process and output.




Collaborate with marketing and branding teams to ensure a cohesive visual identity across all rider touchpoints.
Analyze design metrics and user feedback to iterate on existing features and identify opportunities for enhancement.
Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers, promoting a culture of design excellence.
Lead cross-functional workshops to brainstorm and align on design strategies and solutions.
Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, articulating the value and impact of design decisions on the rider experience.
Requirements A minimum of 5 years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design process and outcomes.
Proven experience leading design projects from conception to launch, preferably in a consumer-facing product environment.
Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar applications.
Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies, with experience in conducting user research and usability testing.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to diverse audiences.
Experience working in an agile development environment, collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.




A passion for solving complex problems and a keen eye for detail in visual design.
Nice to have Familiarity with mobile app design and responsive web design principles.
Experience in the transportation or mobility sector, with an understanding of rider behaviors and needs.
Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices in design.
Experience with data-driven design, using analytics to inform design decisions.
A background in service design or experience design is a plus.
Skills & tools Design Tools: Proficient in Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, and other design software.
User Research: Skilled in conducting interviews, surveys, and usability tests to gather user insights.
Prototyping: Ability to create interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts effectively.
Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting ideas and designs.
Practical notes This position is based in Toronto, Canada, and may require occasional travel for team meetings or workshops.
