What you’ll do Design and develop scalable AI models and algorithms that enhance the functionality of Lyft's services, focusing on improving user interactions and operational processes.
Collaborate with data scientists and product managers to define project requirements and translate them into technical specifications for AI-driven features.
Conduct thorough testing and validation of AI models to ensure accuracy, reliability, and performance in real-world applications.
Optimize existing AI systems for better performance and efficiency, addressing any issues that arise during deployment.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies, integrating new techniques into existing workflows as appropriate.
Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on best practices in software development and AI methodologies.




Document processes, algorithms, and system architectures to ensure clarity and maintainability of AI solutions.
Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate AI functionalities into broader Lyft platforms and services.
Analyze user feedback and system performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and innovation in AI applications.
Contribute to the development of technical roadmaps and strategic planning for AI initiatives within the organization.
Engage in troubleshooting and debugging of AI systems, ensuring minimal disruption to service and user experience.
Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on AI and machine learning applications.
Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, with a solid understanding of software development best practices.
Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
Robust understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
Proven track record of developing and deploying AI models in production environments.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and their AI services.




Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with version control systems, such as Git, and agile development methodologies.
Nice to have Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) techniques and applications.
Familiarity with reinforcement learning and its applications in real-world scenarios.
Experience in the transportation or ride-sharing industry, understanding the unique challenges and opportunities within this domain.
Contributions to open-source AI projects or publications in relevant conferences/journals.
Understanding of ethical considerations and best practices in AI development.
