What you'll do Design and implement services within our extensive microservice Backstage platform, utilizing TypeScript and Node.js to create REST and GraphQL APIs that serve both internal services and the Backstage frontend.
Take ownership of the Backstage catalog and its ingestion pipeline, ensuring seamless synchronization of entities from various sources such as Helm, ArgoCD, GCP, and GitHub, both on a scheduled and on-demand basis.
Enhance the developer experience by integrating features like engineering maturity scoring, change management workflows, AI-generated reporting, and test management tools into the platform.
Develop services powered by large language models (LLMs) and manage MCP servers to facilitate access to catalog and engineering data for both users and AI agents.
Ensure operational excellence by maintaining service reliability on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) through ArgoCD GitOps, managing PostgreSQL and Redis databases, and utilizing Datadog for monitoring, including incident response and maintaining runbooks.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, governance, architecture, and infrastructure, to translate business needs into effective catalog models, golden paths, and self-service tools.




Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and practices within the team.
Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to bring innovative ideas to the team and improve our platform's capabilities.
Requirements A strong command of TypeScript and Node.js, coupled with a solid understanding of software architecture principles.
Proven experience in designing and deploying REST and GraphQL APIs in a production environment.
Familiarity with Backstage, including plugin development, catalog modeling, software templates, and TechDocs.
Proficient in working with PostgreSQL and Redis; experience with MongoDB is advantageous.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (specifically GKE) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including deployment, scaling, and troubleshooting in a production setting.
Practical experience with ArgoCD, Helm, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD processes.
Working knowledge of Terraform for managing cloud infrastructure.
Experience integrating LLMs into production services; familiarity with MCP or Agentic AI patterns is a plus.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, particularly in building Internal Developer Platforms or related tooling.
Nice to have Experience with other programming languages or frameworks that complement TypeScript and Node.js.




Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools that enhance the development lifecycle.
Knowledge of security best practices in software development and deployment.
