Investment Analyst, Accelerator at forum-ventures.

Forum Ventures is on the lookout for an Investment Analyst to join our team in Toronto. This role will involve identifying, funding, and nurturing the next generation of outstanding B2B technology startups through our Accelerator program.
Key facts Location: Toronto
Engagement: Full-Time, Remote
Compensation: CA$80K - CA$100K, which includes carried interest in the fund, a comprehensive benefits package, and unlimited vacation

What you'll do Scout for promising early-stage startups across North America through various channels, including outbound sourcing, referrals from founders, community engagement, and the use of analytical tools.
Manage and evaluate incoming deal flow, guiding it from initial screening through due diligence to final investment recommendations.
Build and maintain robust relationships with founders, operators, investors, and other key players in the startup ecosystem. You will represent Forum at events, engage in informal discussions with founders, and share valuable market insights.
Contribute to the development of internal investment theses by conducting market analyses, identifying trends, and spotting new opportunities.
Collaborate closely with our Platform and Accelerator teams to ensure a top-notch experience for the founders we support.
Participate in the preparation of investment materials, including presentations and reports, to communicate findings and recommendations to the investment committee.
Engage in continuous learning about emerging technologies and market trends to enhance your understanding of the startup landscape.
Assist in organizing and facilitating events and workshops that benefit the startup community and enhance the visibility of Forum Ventures.
Requirements 1 to 3 years of experience in technology startups or as a previous founder.
A keen interest in emerging technologies and startups, with a strong commitment to ongoing learning and staying updated on industry developments.
Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to create concise memos and convey complex ideas clearly.
A proactive attitude, comfortable with ambiguity, and motivated by a fast-paced work environment.
Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to identify talent through direct outreach, networking events, or personal connections.
Proficiency in digital communication, including experience in content creation, sharing insights online, and exploring innovative networking methods to connect with founders.
Preferred: Experience in launching a project, side venture, startup, newsletter, community, or a solid understanding of the founder's perspective from previous roles.
Nice to have Familiarity with venture capital or private equity processes and terminology.
Experience in conducting market research or competitive analysis.
Previous involvement in startup accelerators or incubators, either as a participant or mentor.
Skills & tools Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools.
Familiarity with CRM systems and project management software.
Competence in using digital communication platforms and social media for networking and outreach.
Understanding of financial modeling and valuation techniques.
Practical notes This position is based in Toronto but offers the flexibility of remote work.
The salary range for this role is competitive, reflecting the importance of the position within the organization.
Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and may need to provide documentation for visa sponsorship if applicable.
